Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has embraced Islam after reciting the Shahadah in Doha, Qatar.
The 33-year-old defender reportedly recited the two testimonies of faith in a ceremony in Doha, with footage of the moment now circulating online.
Qatari newspaper Al-Arab reported the development, adding that Troost-Ekong expressed a desire to learn more about Islam following his conversion.
The Nigerian international joined Qatari club Al-Ahli in January 2026 after previously featuring in Saudi Arabia.
Troost-Ekong has been a prominent figure in the Super Eagles setup and captained Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where the team finished as runners-up.
