Domestic investors maintained their dominance on the Nigerian Exchange, accounting for 89.8 per cent of a total of N13.2 trillion transactions between January and August 2026.
Nigerian Exchange Limited statistics showed that local investors transacted about N11.89 trillion while foreigners shared N1.35 trillion or 10.23 per cent of the total value of transactions.
The News Chronicle however reports that domestic investors still accounted for about 95 per cent of all NGX transactions in August despite a huge slide in overall transactions for the month.

Total transactions declined 46.38 per cent to N1.26 trillion in August from N2.36 trillion in July. Domestic transactions also declined 45.98 per cent to N1.2 trillion while those by foreigners dived 53.23 per cent to N62.03 billion.
Retail transactions dipped 5.08 per cent to N552.88 billion but institutional transactions crashed 60.39 per cent to N654.61 billion.
The figures further showed a rise in the share of local investors as against 78 per cent of NGX transactions in 2025, against 89.77 per cent by August 2026.
