Wayne Rooney has reportedly threatened legal action against former England teammate Andy Carroll over claims made in the striker’s upcoming autobiography.
Carroll, in his book Owning It, supposedly accused Rooney of having drinking parties in his hotel room during the England assignment, where team-mates were drinking beer and smoking cigarettes.
The previous Manchester United captain strongly denied the allegations and was reportedly outraged.
As per the directions of The Sun, Rooney’s lawyers have written to the book’s publishers asking them to retract the claims. Rooney called it a fabrication and said he was disappointed that Carroll wrote such things.

The News Chronicle reports that Rooney and Carroll were teammates in England between 2010 and 2012, though they only played together for 64 minutes in the matches against Ukraine and Italy.
However, Carroll’s camp reportedly sticks to his allegations and is surprised by Rooney’s reaction.
The dispute could now escalate further, with reports suggesting Carroll may have to issue a public apology if the claims are not withdrawn, potentially paving the way for a legal battle.
