The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Operations Office, has officially commenced the distribution of federal relief materials to individuals and households affected by recent flooding across five Local Government Areas of Lagos State.
The rollout began on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, starting with residents in Kosofe Local Government Area.
The intervention took place at the Kosofe Local Government Secretariat located on Ogudu Road, forming part of a broader Federal Government approved assistance package designed to support flood victims in Kosofe, Alimosho, Lagos Island, Ikeja, and Eti Osa LGAs.
During the exercise, beneficiaries received a variety of approved food and non food items intended to provide immediate succor and help cushion the severe economic and livelihood impacts of the disaster.
The distribution process was jointly executed by NEMA Lagos Operations Office personnel alongside the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), local security agencies, Community Development Association representatives, and local community leaders to ensure transparency and orderly delivery.
Community representatives and beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude to the Federal Government and NEMA for the timely intervention, noting that the support will bring substantial relief to vulnerable households grappling with the aftermath of the floods.
Following the successful completion of the exercise in Kosofe LGA, NEMA announced that the distribution schedule will proceed concurrently to cover the remaining four designated local government areas.
