Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has dismissed the nicknames “JP Morgan” and “CPR” being used for his attacking partnership with Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers.
The trio has made a strong start under Xabi Alonso, combining for 10 goals and nine assists as Chelsea has scored 18 goals in their opening six matches.
Speaking to Men In Blazers, Joao Pedro said the players are yet to embrace the names created by fans.
“I don’t like CPR, and he [Palmer] doesn’t like JP Morgan, so we need to find something between to make everyone happy.”
The Brazilian praised Rogers’ ability to carry the ball and create one-on-one opportunities, while explaining that he looks to make runs behind defenders when playing alongside Palmer.
The News Chronicle reports that Joao Pedro also described Palmer as a funny character in the dressing room, despite perceptions that the England international is quiet.
He credited Alonso’s attacking approach for Chelsea’s early success, saying the manager encourages the players to remain focused and create chances.
However, Chelsea have also conceded 12 goals, with Joao Pedro highlighting the importance of Moises Caicedo’s return from injury.
The forward was also withdrawn from Brazil’s squad for the upcoming friendlies against Australia and India after picking up an unspecified injury.
