Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC, Peter Obi, has asked the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), to release his academic records following reports of a legal action seeking Certified True Copies (CTCs) of his university certificates and other admission documents.
Obi made the request in a statement posted on X on Tuesday, saying he had no objection to the release of his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, which he said was awarded by the university in 1984.
He also authorised the release of other official records relating to his admission, studies and academic history at the institution.

The development followed reports circulating on social media about a legal action by an individual or group seeking CTCs of Obi’s degree certificate and other academic credentials.
Reacting to the reports, Obi urged the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to make his academic certificates, records and other official documents available whenever a legitimate request is made, provided such disclosure is within the limits permitted by law.

The former Anambra State governor said he had no objection to the release of the records, effectively throwing open his academic credentials for verification through the appropriate legal and institutional channels.
