Governor Zulum Commissions Flyover, Roads, Mega Schools in Maiduguri

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has commissioned a flyover bridge, a 2.5-kilometre dualised road with five kilometres of drainage, and two mega schools in Maiduguri, the state capital.
The projects, commissioned on Sunday, are part of the governor’s urban renewal and infrastructure development programme aimed at easing traffic congestion, improving transportation and boosting economic activities.
The Post Office nine-span Flyover, according to Zulum, is the fourth flyover constructed by his administration in the state.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, who served as the special guest of honour and performed the symbolic cutting of the tape.
Sule commended Zulum for investing heavily in infrastructure and education despite the security challenges confronting Borno State.
He described the projects as evidence of purposeful leadership, noting that they would improve the quality of life of residents.
Zulum, while speaking at the event, said the projects were designed to bridge Borno’s infrastructure gap and facilitate the movement of people and goods.
The governor also highlighted his administration’s investment in education, saying more than 120 mega schools had been constructed across the state.
He said the insurgency had destroyed more than 5,000 school structures and left about 2.2 million children out of school at its peak.
Zulum added that the government had established five Vocational Enterprise Institutes, reactivated 11 Vocational Training Centres and established three Second Chance Skills Entrepreneurship Schools for women and girls.
He assured residents that the government would continue rebuilding the state and expanding access to quality education and skills development.
“The journey of rebuilding Borno continues, and our commitment remains unwavering: to ensure that every child has access to quality education and the opportunity to build a productive and dignified future,” Zulum said.
