Troops of 17 Brigade, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have killed two senior terrorist commanders during a military operation in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The two commanders were identified as Hamisu, also known as Mamiyo, a suspected gunrunner and second-in-command to terrorist leader Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, and Umar Bocho, a senior lieutenant in the group.
According to the military, Kachalla Muhammadu Filani escaped during the operation but sustained severe gunshot wounds.
Troops also recovered and destroyed two motorcycles belonging to the terrorists.
The operation forms part of ongoing military efforts to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks operating across the North-West and disrupt their activities in the region.
