Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, is set to face 17 other candidates in the 2027 governorship election following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) publication of the particulars of candidates nominated by political parties.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the complete list of governorship candidates and their running mates was yet to be displayed at the INEC office in Kaduna as of Monday.
INEC commenced the publication of the personal particulars and credentials of governorship candidates on Saturday as part of preparations for the 2027 elections.
Available information indicates that 18 political parties have fielded candidates for the Kaduna governorship election, with Sani seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Among the candidates identified so far are Isa Ashiru of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bawa Usman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Muhammad Jamilu of the Accord Party and Adamu Ahmed of the Action Alliance (AA).
Others include Tukur Rabiu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Idris Adamu of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Aminu Abdulfatah of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Auwal Tafoki of the Labour Party (LP).
Sani is expected to contest alongside Jerry Adams as his running mate.
However, the identities of the remaining governorship candidates and their running mates are still being awaited from the official INEC publication in Kaduna.
The commission’s Public Relations Officer in Kaduna State, Ramatu Mohammad, stated that the complete list had yet to be displayed at its office.

Mohammad appealed for patience, assuring members of the public and journalists that the details would be made available once the publication process was completed.
The development is expected to intensify political activities in Kaduna, one of the states likely to witness a closely contested governorship election in 2027.
The publication of candidates’ particulars is part of the electoral process and allows political parties, candidates and members of the public to scrutinise the information submitted to the electoral commission.
The full list, particularly the identities of the deputy governorship candidates, is expected to provide further insight into the political alliances and strategies taking shape ahead of the election.
