KCPC, Anti-Corruption Commission Partner to Protect Kano Consumers

The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) says it will strengthen its collaboration with the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission to protect consumers and safeguard their welfare.

The Executive Secretary of the council, Dr Ibrahim Garba-Muhammad, made this known when officials of the commission paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Kano.

The council’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Jamilu Mustapha, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Kano.

Garba-Muhammad said closer cooperation between the two agencies would contribute to the development of Kano State, particularly in areas affecting the welfare and wellbeing of residents.

He said the council remained committed to stopping the production and distribution of adulterated and substandard products in markets and companies across the state.

The collaboration will enhance the council’s efforts to address complaints from members of the public,” he said.

The executive secretary added that the council would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to protect consumers from harmful and substandard products.

Earlier, the Chairman of the commission, Malam Sa’idu Yahaya, said the visit was aimed at building a stronger working relationship between the two agencies.

Yahaya commended the council for its efforts to tackle the circulation of substandard products across the state.

He said the campaign would help protect consumers’ health and safety, curb threats to public health and promote safer markets.

Yahaya subsequently inspected facilities where the council stores adulterated and substandard products confiscated during its enforcement operations.
