Troops Neutralise Terrorists, Intercept 180 Explosives in Zamfara

—

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have intensified their offensive against terrorists in Zamfara State, neutralising fighters, recovering weapons and intercepting 180 explosive materials allegedly destined for terrorist elements.

The troops, according to a statement made available to The News Chronicle, recorded the successes during sustained operations across the state, including a fierce encounter with terrorists in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area on August 14, 2026.

Troops of Sector 2, while conducting an offensive clearance operation around Garin Kaso, made contact with a group of terrorists and engaged them in a fierce firefight. Two terrorists were confirmed neutralised during the initial encounter.

The troops also recovered two rifles, two magazines, nine rounds of ammunition and two motorcycles from the terrorists.

As the operation continued, another group of terrorists launched an ambush on the troops from concealed positions. The soldiers, however, responded decisively, fought through the ambush and inflicted further casualties on the attackers.

Overwhelmed by the troops’ response, the surviving terrorists fled the area, while the offensive operation continued to disrupt terrorist activities and deny criminal elements freedom of action across the area of operation.
