Local Refineries Secure 53.7 Million Barrels of Crude in Q2 2026

Nigeria’s local refineries received 53.7 million barrels of crude oil and condensate between April and June 2026, achieving 97.4 percent of the volumes allocated under the country’s Domestic Crude Supply Obligation.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission disclosed this in its second quarter report on DCSO implementation under the Petroleum Industry Act.

Crude supply exceeded allocations in April and June but fell short in May, highlighting differences between volumes offered by producers and those ultimately accepted by refiners.

In April, refiners received 20.88 million barrels against an allocation of 18.13 million barrels. May recorded 14.23 million barrels from an 18.78 million barrel allocation, while June deliveries reached 18.61 million barrels against 18.17 million barrels allocated.

The News Chronicle reports that the stronger quarterly performance was supported by improved domestic production and longer term supply agreements between producers and local refiners.

The Dangote Refinery accounted for the largest share, with producers offering 68.1 million barrels against its quarterly requirement of 63 million barrels. However, the refinery accepted 52.6 million barrels.

NUPRC said the supply framework operates on a willing buyer and willing seller basis while supporting Nigeria’s drive for greater domestic refining and energy security.

The regulator said it would continue enforcing the DCSO as local production improves.
