Nigeria is not a miniature map. Nigeria is a mosaic.
When voices rise to divide us along tribe, region, or religion, there are other voices — quieter but stronger — choosing to build. These are the responses of patriots.
1. THE PROBLEM WE FACE
For too long, the loudest narratives have been those of division. “Us vs Them.” “Our region vs Your region.”
But in the gap of mistrust, insecurity thrives. In the gap of suspicion, development dies.
2. THE THIRD WAY: UNITY IN ACTION
Force alone cannot win this war. Community action alone cannot build this nation.
The third way is partnership. It is what is happening in barracks, on project sites, in markets, and under trees across Nigeria.

_On Community + Security Partnership in Saki, Oyo State_
For years, nightfall in Saki, Kishi and Igboho meant: lock your doors and pray.
In early 2025, the Commander of the Forward Operating Base came without sirens. Just kola nuts and a request to sit under the ancient Iroko tree with Baale, Imams, hunters, and market women.
“We are tired of burying your children and mine,” he said. “Can we fight them together?”
What followed was partnership. Hunters drew maps. Youths volunteered as Community Watch. The base drilled a borehole and held free medical outreach.
The turning point: A 16-year-old boy called the Army hotline at 2am. Within 25 minutes, a joint team intercepted bandits. Two camps were dismantled.
Since then, kidnapping in Oyo North has dropped by over 70%. Schools that closed for 2 years are full again.
“Where there is no trust, there is no intelligence,” said a senior security officer. “The community is our best sensor. The military is the best shield.”
4. CONCLUSION: THE SOUND OF PEACE
Nigeria’s challenges will not be solved by force alone, nor by community action alone.
In Saki, in the barracks, on project sites, and in boardrooms — Nigerians are finding a third way: unity.
Under that Iroko tree, soldiers stopped being strangers and citizens stopped being suspects. Together, they chose a better Nigeria.
As one elder put it: _“Before, when we heard gunshots we ran inside. Now when we hear gunshots, we know our sons are outside protecting us.”_
That, perhaps, is the sound of peace.
