Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, in collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force, have safely recovered a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) planted along a road in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation was carried out at about 1:55 p.m. on Friday August 7 by troops of CSI Battalion VI/CT 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YANMA, deployed at the Forward Operating Base in Kaura Namoda.
The troops worked alongside a Nigeria Police Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team and personnel of the 1 Brigade Quick Reaction Force following a report of a suspected IED planted along the road in Jabanda village.
According to military sources, the security team mobilised to the location, where it successfully located and cleared the suspected explosive device.
Following the operation, the affected road was declared safe and reopened to motorists, allowing normal vehicular movement to resume along the route.
The security forces subsequently continued their operations in the area to safeguard commuters and residents and prevent further security threats
