Dangote Industries Limited President and Chief Executive, Aliko Dangote, met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to explore new investment opportunities and stronger economic cooperation between Canada and Africa.
The discussions focused on expanding investment opportunities in Canada and creating avenues for African businesses to contribute to the country’s economic growth.
The News Chronicle reports that the meeting also touched on Canada’s Africa Strategy, with both sides highlighting the need for stronger trade and investment links between Canadian and African businesses.
Dangote stated that deeper economic ties would create opportunities for job creation, industrialization, innovation and sustainable development. Dangote also noted the importance of strategic partnerships that would generate lasting benefits for both regions.
In addition, he held bilateral talks with Ahmed Hussen, Member of Parliament for Canada, who is the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
The meetings were held against the backdrop of increased interest in boosting trade, investment and enduring business relationships between Canada and Africa.
The meetings will also contribute to Canada’s efforts to promote trade, expand commercial ties with Africa, and encourage private-sector partnerships.
