Troops of the 65 Battalion, Nigerian Army, have dismantled a suspected illegal oil bunkering site in the Orile General Area of Lagos State, arresting six suspects during a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
The operation, conducted under the leadership of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo, followed credible intelligence on illegal refining activities in the area.
During the raid, the troops apprehended six suspected oil bunkerers and recovered four trucks, one pumping machine, as well as assorted pipes and drums believed to have been used in the illicit operation.
The suspects and all recovered items have since been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, for further investigation and prosecution.
Commending the troops for the successful operation, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, praised their professionalism and urged them to sustain the crackdown on economic sabotage and other criminal activities within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to curb illegal bunkering and protect the nation’s critical economic assets.
