Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Launches Free Fertilizer Distribution for 150,000 Farmers

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has launched the 2026 wet season free fertilizer distribution programme for 150,000 smallholder farmers, alongside an expanded agricultural mechanisation initiative aimed at boosting food production across the state.
The programme was officially flagged off at Murtala Square in Kaduna, where the state government announced the distribution of 500 truckloads of fertilizer and additional support through the provision of agricultural machinery to farmers.
According to the government, the initiative is part of its broader strategy to strengthen food security, reduce the cost of farming, and improve the livelihoods of rural communities across Kaduna State.
Officials said the timely provision of fertilizer and mechanised farming equipment would help increase crop yields, improve productivity, and enable farmers to cope with rising agricultural input costs and the effects of climate change.
The Kaduna State Government described the intervention as the largest agricultural support programme in the state’s history. It recalled that 500 truckloads of fertilizer were distributed in 2024, while more than 400 truckloads were provided in 2025, contributing to increased agricultural output in several parts of the state.
The government added that the 2026 distribution is designed to build on the successes of previous years and further enhance agricultural development while ensuring sustainable food production across Kaduna State.
