Slow Down on Speed Bumps – Anambra Govt Bans Unauthorized Construction

The Anambra Government has banned the construction of unauthorised construction of speed bumps by individuals or groups without approval from relevant government authority.
This is contained in a statement released to newsmen by Dr Law Mefor , the state Commissioner for Information and  Value Reformation on Saturday in Awka.
According to the commissioner, individuals and communities are no longer permitted to construct speed bumps on public roads without prior approval henceforth.
 “Going forward, approval  is required. All speed bumps and their locations must be approved by the state government.
“A uniform design for speed bumps will have to be sought from the state’s Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.
“Speed bumps will be restricted to critical areas such as markets, churches, schools, and other locations as determined by the government,” he said.
The commissioner said that the decision was taken following indiscriminate construction of speed bumps which had posed  adverse effects on road infrastructure and safety.
