The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) says it has successfully contained a compressed gas tanker leak along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Bypass in Kaduna South, with no casualties or injuries recorded.
Executive Secretary of KADSEMA, Usman Mazadu, disclosed this on Monday, saying the agency, in collaboration with the Kaduna State Fire and Public Safety Agency, swiftly responded after receiving a distress call on Sunday.
According to Mazadu, emergency responders immediately secured the scene, while cooling operations were carried out to stabilize the tanker and prevent the situation from escalating.
He confirmed that the tanker driver escaped unharmed and that no lives were lost or injuries sustained during the incident.
Mazadu urged motorists and pedestrians to avoid the Nnamdi Azikiwe Bypass near Unguwan Mu’azu until emergency officials declare the area safe.
He added that traffic had been diverted to alternative routes to ensure the smooth conduct of emergency operations and safeguard road users.
The KADSEMA boss also commended residents for their cooperation and appealed to the public to continue complying with the directives of emergency personnel until the operation is fully concluded.
