The best graduating students of Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri, have appealed to the Borno State Government to fulfill Governor Babagana Umara Zullum’s promise of appointments and scholarships announced during the university’s convocation ceremony on January 3, 2026.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday and obtained by The News Chronicle, the graduates said the Governor’s announcement inspired them and encouraged academic excellence, expressing appreciation for his continued commitment to education and youth development in the state.
The students noted that they have patiently awaited official communication since the announcement and have made several follow up visits to the university management and the Borno State Ministry of Education, but have yet to receive any update on the implementation of the promise.
According to the statement, the appeal is not intended to criticise any institution but to seek clarification and the fulfilment of a public commitment made during the convocation.
The graduates called on the relevant authorities to provide an official update and outline the next steps regarding the promised appointments and scholarships.
They also reaffirmed their confidence in the Borno State Government’s commitment to rewarding academic excellence and expressed hope that the matter would receive the attention it deserves.
