“I Spent Four Days in Cell” — TikToker Peller Reveals Why Wedding Is Now His Priority

Nigerian TikToker and streamer Habeeb Hamzat, known as Peller, shared his experience in police custody, saying he went without food or a bath for most of the four days he spent in detention.

Peller, 21, was arrested on Friday, July 3, in the Lekki area of Lagos following a confrontation with police officers over a vehicle with tinted windows and no number plate. A video of the encounter went viral, with Peller alleging that officers pulled his shirt and pointed a gun at his head before taking him into custody.

What Peller said about his time in detention

Speaking on Snapchat after his release, Peller described the conditions he faced in the cell.

“I am ugly now, I can’t show my face yet. Omo, I slept in a cell for almost four days. It has never happened to me before in my life o,” he said.

He added that he went without food and water for most of his detention, saying, “I no chop for four good days, I no bath.”

Peller said fellow inmates recognized him while he was in custody and jokingly called him “001.”

Peller was arraigned on Tuesday, July 7, alongside a co-defendant, Bello Oladipo, on three counts: obstruction of police officers, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, and conspiracy to commit a felony. A Lagos Magistrates’ Court granted him bail in the sum of ₦500,000, bringing his detention to an end.

His management, City Plug, confirmed his release in an Instagram statement, saying he was back home in good health and had resumed his daily activities. The statement added that the legal process was still ongoing and thanked fans for their support during his detention.

Peller said the experience had made him more cautious, adding that he now wants to focus on staying out of trouble ahead of his wedding. “Nah my wedding dey my mind. Nah to dey waka jeje after wedding japa,” he said.

Reactions to Peller’s account have been mixed, with many commenters unsympathetic to his situation.

On Instagram, fan @mr_lotti wrote, “U are becoming a man, u never see anything,” while @jamesbolajy_print commented, “Hope e don learn his lesson. Make e shut up.”

Other commenters linked the arrest to how Peller handled the confrontation. @joe_xpression wrote, “Na still illiteracy cause his misfortune… Because how will you drive without having a plate number and still claiming right.”

On X, reactions followed a similar pattern. User @Kris1mike wrote, “It’s part of life experience. I understand you are young and still learning. Try to be cautious and respect your elders, no matter their occupation or situation.” Another user, @Touchlinevaults, said Peller had violated the police officers’ rights during the confrontation.

A smaller number of commenters pushed back on the criticism. On X, @patienceg352 wrote that it “really pained me the way people treated this guy,” arguing that many see Peller as a rival rather than as a fellow celebrity. On Instagram, @obanla_blessing_itohan wrote, “Devil has failed again, your wedding must hold, and you will never fall.”

Some reactions questioned whether the full story had been told. On X, @Mellyandyfx001 wrote, “If true, e no easy at all. But make everybody calm down first — na proper investigation go show wetin really happen, no be social media story alone.”

Peller and fellow creator Jarvis, whose real name is Elizabeth Aminata, completed their traditional wedding rites on June 21, 2026, in Benin City, Edo State, weeks after he proposed to her in Accra, Ghana, on June 3.

With the bride price formalities concluded, attention has turned to the couple’s white wedding, though a confirmed date has not been verified. Social media posts have circulated a January 2027 date, but this has not been confirmed by Peller, Jarvis, or their management.
