Dangote Cement Targets 80 Million Tonnes Capacity

As part of its efforts to create a more environmentally friendly industrial company across Africa, Dangote Cement Plc has revealed a bold long-term expansion plan aimed at raising its output capacity to 80 million tonnes per year by 2030 and reducing carbon emissions by 20 percent.

During the 17th Annual General Meeting in Lagos, Chairman Emmanuel Ikazoboh presented proposals to increase exports, expand operations, and accelerate environmental projects.

The News Chronicle reports that by 2027, most of Dangote Cement’s Nigerian truck fleet will be converted to compressed natural gas; electric vehicles will be introduced starting in 2026; and export infrastructure will be developed through the Apapa, Onne, and Lekki ports.

Under its Vision 2030 program, the company also revealed intentions to open fresh facilities in Botswana and Zimbabwe. Beyond growth, the cement maker claimed it has lowered its carbon footprint, energy use, and water consumption while producing 625 green jobs and boosting employee training.

It also unveiled new environmental projects, including a tree-planting campaign across its operating nations and the implementation of stricter environmental, social, and governance rules, supporting its commitment to sustainable economic growth and long-term value creation across the continent.
