Nigeria’s Youngest Chartered Accountant Emerges at 16, Receives Minister’s Commendation

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has congratulated 16-year-old Osasere Okundaye for becoming Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant after qualifying through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

In a statement on Monday, Olawande described the achievement as a remarkable testament to hard work, discipline, resilience, and dedication to excellence.

He said Okundaye’s success demonstrates the limitless potential of Nigerian youths and should inspire young people across the country to pursue their dreams.

The minister also commended her parents, family, teachers, and mentors for their unwavering support throughout her journey, noting that their encouragement played a key role in her success.

Olawande reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Youth Development’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians through policies and programmes that help them realise their full potential.

Okundaye’s achievement surpasses the previous record set in 2022 by Jonathan Adewale, who became Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant at the age of 17. The ICAN qualification is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most demanding professional certifications.
