Several people were reportedly killed on Monday evening following an explosion along the Bagega – Anka road in Zamfara State.
The incident occurred while security personnel were escorting residents and traders travelling to Bagega. Sources said the casualties included members of the security forces, although the exact number of those killed and injured had yet to be officially confirmed at the time of filing this report.
The attack has reignited concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the area and prompted renewed calls on both the Zamfara State Government and the Federal Government to intensify efforts to restore safety and complete the long-delayed Bagega-Anka road project.
Residents have argued that improving the road infrastructure could enhance access, strengthen security operations, and help reduce the frequency of attacks and other security incidents along the route.
