Brighton has signed Nigerian football prospect Yohanna Zadok in a deal reportedly worth £21.5 million, marking a spectacular ascension from grassroots football in Kaduna to the English Premier League.
The News Chronicle reports that the 18-year-old striker will formally join the Premier League team on June 15 when the summer transfer window opens, signing a five-year contract after wowing in Sweden with AIK Stockholm.
Zadok was perfecting his abilities at Ikon Allah Football Academy in Kaduna just over a year ago. Today he is getting ready to play against guys he used to look up to from a distance on one of the greatest football fields in the world.
Brighton coach Fabian Hurzeler gushed about the young player’s arrival, calling him a creative attacking player who could help the team in the final third. Additionally, he mentioned that the youngster would have time to adjust to the rigors of English football.
Since making his debut in August 2025, Zadok has had a great run at AIK Stockholm with five goals and four assists in 18 games.
The up-and-coming star is also among the young prospects being included in the Super Eagles setup under coach Eric Chelle as Nigeria keeps building for the future following its failure to make the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
