BREAKING: Bandits Release Video of Former Army General, Demand Release of Detained Members

A video allegedly released by bandits holding former Nigerian Army spokesman, Major General Rabe Abubakar (rtd), and his wife has surfaced online, showing the retired military officer and his spouse appealing to the Federal Government and the Katsina State Government to intervene for their release.
In the video obtained by The News Chronicle on Saturday morning, General Abubakar is seen pleading with authorities to come to their aid while in captivity.
His wife, who also appeared in the footage, claimed that their captors are demanding the release of some detained individuals identified as Aminu, Sani, and Nasir, among others. She further alleged that the bandits are also requesting the return of livestock and other animals reportedly seized and currently in government custody.
The development comes days after the former Army spokesman was reportedly abducted in Katsina State, an incident that sparked widespread reactions and debate among Nigerians over the country’s security challenges.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies and the Katsina State Government have not issued an official statement regarding the video or the demands reportedly made by the kidnappers.
The circumstances surrounding the abduction and ongoing efforts to secure the release of the retired general and his wife remain unclear
