Don’t Lose Hope in Nigeria- Obi Declares in Sallah Message, Calls for National Healing, Unity

Former Anambra State governor and presidential aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, sacrifice, and hope as Muslims across the country and the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

In a Sallah message released on Wednesday, Obi congratulated the Muslim Ummah, describing Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred season that reflects the enduring virtues of faith, obedience to God, compassion, and love for humanity.

He urged Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for national unity and a better future, stressing that the country’s current challenges should not extinguish hope for a functional and prosperous nation.

“Nigeria is a nation of immense potential currently weighed down by avoidable challenges, but the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir teaches us that after sacrifice comes fulfilment,” he said.

The former Labour Party presidential candidate noted that the lessons of the festival; selflessness, tolerance, and commitment to the common good are crucial at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with economic hardship and insecurity.

Obi also called for prayers for security personnel battling insecurity across the country, wisdom for leaders at all levels, and meaningful economic relief for struggling Nigerians.

He further appealed for greater peace, mutual respect, and unity across religious and ethnic divides, saying national cohesion remains vital to rebuilding the country.

He prayed that the celebration would bring joy to families, peace to communities, and renewed hope to the nation, while wishing Muslims a peaceful and fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
