Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and secured the party’s governorship ticket for the 2027 election in Gombe State.
Pantami emerged as the PDP candidate through voice affirmation during the party’s primary election held on Tuesday after being declared the sole aspirant by the electoral panel.
His emergence followed controversy, as some PDP aspirants opposed his participation after previously contesting within the ruling party, raising concerns over the transparency and integrity of the process.
Despite the objections, PDP stakeholders endorsed him, setting up a likely showdown with APC candidate Jamilu Gwamna in the 2027 governorship election.
