A 29-year-old Sociology graduate of Kogi State University, Blessing Moshood, was allegedly murdered and her body dumped in a canal in the Jikwoyi area of Abuja last Thursday night.
According to her sister, Abigail Moshood, Blessing left home around 8pm after speaking with someone on the phone and later called to say she would briefly return for her forgotten phone charger. However, she never came back.
The family reportedly became alarmed after she failed to return home the next day, before receiving reports of a woman’s body discovered in a canal. Abigail said the hairstyle description matched her sister’s, prompting fears that were later confirmed.
She disclosed that officers from the Jikwoyi Police Station evacuated the half-naked body to a mortuary in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, where photographs shown by police confirmed the deceased’s identity.
Neighbours described Blessing as intelligent, friendly, and well-spoken, mourning her tragic death and calling for improved security in the area.
The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing.
