—

The Gombe State Police Command has recovered 119 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 live ammunition concealed inside a sack discovered along Kalshingi Road in Kwadon, Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the discovery followed credible intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officer of Kwadon Division at about 10:30am on May 19, 2026.

He said the information indicated that a suspicious white sack had been abandoned under a tree opposite a graveyard along the road.

Acting on the tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer led a team of detectives to the scene, where the sack was recovered and thoroughly searched.

Items found inside included 119 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition, two empty ammunition packets, two bottles containing moringa seeds, and a green bag. After the discovery, operatives combed nearby bushes and surrounding areas, but no suspect was arrested.

The police command said investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for concealing the ammunition, while surveillance in the area has been intensified.

Commissioner of Police, Bello Yahaya, commended residents for providing timely and useful information, urging continued cooperation with security agencies to strengthen public safety across the state.
