BREAKING: Fubara Cites Peace, Backs Out Of Rivers Guber Race

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced his withdrawal from the APC governorship primaries, saying the decision was made after deep reflection and extensive consultations.

In a statement, Fubara said he stepped aside in the interest of peace, stability, and unity in Rivers State, insisting that personal ambition must give way to the collective good of the people.

The governor pledged to support whoever emerges as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, while assuring supporters that his decision was not borne out of fear or weakness.

Fubara admitted that the move would disappoint many loyal supporters who had invested time, resources, and hope in his political journey, but stressed that his silence in recent weeks had been “deliberate and strategic,” guided by the higher interest of Rivers State.

In a veiled reference to political pressures behind the scenes, the governor stated that he had faced immense pressures and difficult choices, adding that some realities were best handled with restraint for the sake of peace.

“As our elders say, not everything a hunter sees in the forest is spoken of in the marketplace,” he said.

Fubara thanked the APC leadership for the opportunity given to him throughout the process and expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his “support and encouragement.”

He also urged party faithful to remain united and committed to building a stronger APC ahead of the elections.

The governor maintained that his withdrawal should be seen as an act of sacrifice aimed at preserving peace and unity in Rivers State, vowing to continue serving the people until the end of his tenure.
