Nigerian singer Niniola Apata, known professionally as Niniola, has announced the death of her husband, Michael Ndika.
The singer shared the news through a series of posts on her Instagram Story in the early hours of Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
“God took him,” she wrote in one post.
In another, she said, “My husband died.”
She also wrote, “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years.”

Each post included photographs of the couple together.
Michael Ndika was the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform focused on afro-house and contemporary African music.
The cause and circumstances of his death were not disclosed.
Niniola, 39, is from Ekiti State, Nigeria. She is the older sister to popular Afrobeats singer Teniola Apata. She gained national attention after finishing as a top contestant on Project Fame West Africa in 2013.
Her 2017 single Maradona brought her international recognition and led to collaborations and support from artists including DJ Snake, Drake, Eddy Kenzo, Timbaland, and Beyoncé.
