Tension erupted in Ninghaan Ward, Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, as angry youths reportedly confronted a Nasarawa State University professor, Emmanuel Danduara, over allegations of vote manipulation in favour of Governor Abdullahi Sule during the APC primaries.
The News Chronicle gathered that the confrontation followed growing complaints of irregularities and alleged vote rigging that reportedly marred the APC primaries in the Nasarawa North Senatorial District.
The contest is between Governor Abdullahi Sule and the immediate past Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and former Deputy Governor of the state, Silas Ali Agara.
Sources within the ward alleged that the youths accused Prof. Danduara of influencing the voting process in favour of the governor, sparking heated exchanges and tension in the area.
However, as of press time, no official statement has been issued by the professor or relevant authorities regarding the allegations.
