Lagos Police Bust Suspected ‘One Chance’ Gang

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six individuals allegedly linked to a notorious “One Chance” robbery network said to be operating around the Okota axis of the state.

Confirming the development on Sunday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended during a routine stop-and-search exercise conducted by police officers along Ago Palace Way in Okota.

According to her, the suspects were travelling in a tricycle bearing registration number AAA 720 QL with about six occupants when operatives intercepted the vehicle over suspicion that they were attempting to dispossess passengers of their valuables.

Adebisi explained that the suspects reportedly fled from the tricycle immediately they noticed the presence of the police, abandoning the vehicle at the scene.

“The operatives recovered a cutlass allegedly used for their operations and a mobile phone at the scene.

“Further investigation led to the arrest of the six suspects, who are between the ages 20 and 28.

“The suspects were also found in possession of a dummy pistol allegedly used in carrying out their criminal activities,” she said.

She noted that investigations were still ongoing and assured that the suspects would be prosecuted after the conclusion of the inquiry.

The police spokesperson further stated that the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr. Fatai Tijani, had reiterated the command’s resolve to strengthen proactive policing measures aimed at tackling criminal activities and safeguarding residents across the state.

She also appealed to residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with prompt and reliable information that could aid efforts to flush out criminal elements from Lagos communities.
