The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) has stepped up efforts to deepen partnerships with stakeholders and development organisations as part of measures to tackle flooding across the state.
Speaking on the sidelines of a stakeholders’ meeting on flood preparedness and emergency response in Kaduna, the Executive Secretary of KADSEMA, Usman Mazadu, said the agency was committed to working closely with humanitarian groups, government bodies and development partners to strengthen emergency response mechanisms.
“KADSEMA remains focused on protecting lives, property and vulnerable communities, through proactive planning and collective action.
‘The success recorded by the agency, in 2025, was largely due to sustained support from stakeholders and partner organisations.
“We worked together as humanitarian actors to ensure that communities and public infrastructure remained safe,” he said.
Mazadu explained that the agency would sustain engagements with technical experts and professionals to enhance disaster management operations across Kaduna State.
He noted that KADSEMA had introduced several institutional reforms, strategic plans and policy frameworks designed to improve coordination and efficiency during emergency situations.
According to him, the agency is now prioritising preventive strategies and early warning systems ahead of reactive responses to disasters.
Mazadu also acknowledged the support of development partners, including the United Nations Children’s Fund and Christian Aid, in shaping disaster management policies and operational guidelines for the state.
He added that the Kaduna State Government had intensified support for preparedness and coordination efforts ahead of the 2026 rainy season.
The KADSEMA boss further urged residents and stakeholders to adhere to precautionary measures in line with flood forecasts issued by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency and the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency.
