Ahead of the All Progressives Congress primaries, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has instructed his political appointees to leave their offices and reconnect with the grassroots in their various local government areas.
The directive was issued on Wednesday following the State Executive Council session held at the newly unveiled digital Council Chamber within the Government House, Katsina.
Radda said the coming weeks would be devoted entirely to internal party activities, including screenings and primaries for aspirants hoping to secure the party’s ticket for elective positions.
“We will dedicate this month to our party activities, including screening exercises and primary elections for aspirants seeking to contest elective positions under the APC platform.
“You must actively participate in the grassroots mobilisation process in line with directives issued by the party leadership,” he said.
With the political drums already beating across the state, the governor charged party officials and stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the exercise, warning against actions capable of turning the process into a battlefield of division.
He stressed that the strength of the ruling All Progressives Congress would depend largely on the unity, discipline and maturity displayed by members during the primaries.
Radda also appealed to party faithful across Katsina to avoid cracks within the fold and instead work hand in glove to preserve the stability of the APC as attention gradually shifts toward the 2027 general elections.
The party had earlier fixed May 15 to May 23 for its nationwide direct primary elections, throwing open the gates for aspirants seeking elective offices under its banner.
