Wenger Heads FIFA Expert Team for Historic 2026 World Cup

FIFA has unveiled an 11-member Technical Study Group for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with former Arsenal FC manager Arsène Wenger leading the project ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The group includes several respected football figures, including Jürgen Klinsmann, Gilberto Silva, Pablo Zabaleta, and Paulo Wanchope. Their role will focus on analyzing all 104 matches during the tournament using advanced football intelligence and performance technology.

The News Chronicle reports that FIFA plans to introduce one of the most data-driven World Cups in history, with fans, broadcasters, and teams expected to receive live tactical insights, enhanced graphics, and real-time match analysis throughout the competition.

Wenger said the project aims to find new football trends, enhance tactical knowledge, and help influence the direction of the sport worldwide. The panel, according to FIFA, would collaborate with performance specialists, engineers, and analysts functioning from Miami, Dallas, and Manchester.

The Technical Study Group will also play a key role in selecting individual tournament award winners after closely monitoring player performances across the competition.
