The African Democratic Congress has distanced itself from alleged plans by some individuals to convene congresses in certain states across the country.
In a public notice issued by the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, the ADC said it had become aware of what it described as a “purported plan” by some persons to organize congresses despite existing legal and constitutional positions within the party.
In a statement signed by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, and dated May 7, 2026, the party clarifies that, based on a subsisting ruling of the Federal High Court, the party is not conducting any congresses until the tenure of the current executives expires.
According to the notice, the party urged loyal members and supporters to disregard any invitation to attend such congresses, insisting that those behind the moves were attempting to destabilize the party and create confusion within its ranks.
The ADC further described the planned congresses as unauthorized and warned members against participating in activities not approved by the national leadership.
