Tinubu Mourns Soldiers Killed in Benisheikh Attack, Calls Them “Unforgettable Heroes”

President Bola Tinubu has described troops killed in a deadly terrorist attack on their camp in Benisheikh as “unforgettable heroes,” urging Nigerians and the media to rally behind the military in the fight against insurgency.

The coordinated assault by Boko Haram terrorists targeted the camp of the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation HADIN KAI early Thursday. The attack led to the deaths of several troops, including Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah.

The Defence Headquarters confirmed the incident, highlighting the persistent threats faced by frontline forces in the North-East.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the bereaved families, military leadership, and the Borno State government. He assured that the sacrifices of the fallen soldiers would not be forgotten.

Tinubu praised the troops for bravely resisting the attackers and protecting nearby communities, noting that sustained land and air offensives by security forces have weakened insurgents. He described the latest attack as a sign of desperation by a struggling enemy.

The President also urged military personnel not to lose morale and reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to improving equipment, welfare, and collaboration with authorities in Borno to achieve lasting peace.

He further called on Nigerians and the media to support the armed forces, stressing that the fallen soldiers remain “heroes unforgettable and irreplaceable.”
