Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen could make a surprisingly quick comeback from injury, says head coach Okan Buruk.
The Nigerian international is recovering from an arm injury sustained in last month’s UEFA Champions League clash with Liverpool, which required surgery. Initial projections had Osimhen sidelined until the high-stakes Intercontinental Derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26.
However, Buruk revealed the 27-year-old is progressing faster than expected, already hitting the training ground for running drills under the watchful eye of physiotherapists.
“The game against Kocaelispor this weekend is probably too soon,” Buruk admitted, “but there’s a chance he could feature against Gençlerbirliği next week. We may still exercise caution to ensure he’s fully ready for the derby.”
The potential return of Osimhen is a major boost for Galatasaray, who recently beat Göztepe 3-1 to extend their lead at the top of the Süper Lig to four points. With 12 league goals this season, their talismanic striker could be the decisive factor as the title race enters its final, thrilling stretch.
