Amotekun Foils Kidnap, Frees Five in Ondo

Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, have successfully rescued five individuals in two separate late-night operations in Akure South Local Government Area.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday when suspected kidnappers struck a health facility in Oke-Ijebu, within Akure metropolis. Reports indicate that the assailants stormed the centre around 2 a.m., arriving in a large bus before forcibly gaining entry into the premises located opposite a mega school. They subsequently abducted health workers who were on night duty.

Confirming the development in Akure, the Amotekun Corps Commander, Mr Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that three health workers alongside two other victims had been safely rescued.

“A 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son were abducted at Pelebe in the outskirts of Oda Akure Road between 7:30 p.m and 8:00 p.m.

“The victims were, however, rescued by the Rapid Response Squad of Amotekun Corps at about 1:00 a.m after a heavy confrontation with the kidnappers.

“Also, three health workers earlier adopted also regained freedom at about 4:30 am and are currently receiving treatment at the Amotekun health facility,” he said.

Adeleye reiterated the state government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring residents that security agencies remain vigilant.

He further appealed to the public to support ongoing efforts by providing prompt and useful information, stressing that collective responsibility is key to strengthening security across the state.
