Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen is expected to spend several weeks on the sidelines after undergoing surgery in Istanbul for an arm injury sustained during a Champions League clash against Liverpool.
The success of the procedure was confirmed by Galatasaray, his club; the player is now in rehabilitation. Early signs point to an absence of around five weeks for Osimhen, therefore eliminating him from many key games.
A forward injury will force him to miss important Super Lig games against Goztepe, Kocaelispor, Genclerbirligi, and Trabzonspor, as well as a Turkish Cup quarter-final contest.
Moreover, questions have been raised about his availability for the prestigious derby against Fenerbahce later in April; his comeback schedule depends on his response to treatment.
Galatasaray, who are pushing on numerous fronts and will have to reevaluate their offensive strategy in Osimhen’s absence, find themselves at a crucial moment in the year.
The striker had already been left out of Nigeria’s squad for the ongoing Four Nations Invitational tournament, where the Super Eagles are scheduled to face Iran and Jordan.
