President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the recent terror attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, mourning the lives lost, extending sympathy to the injured, and reaffirming solidarity with the people of Borno during this difficult time.
In a statement made available to The News Chronicle on Tuesday, President Tinubu described the attacks as “desperate and frantic attempts by criminals and terrorist elements to instil fear,” stressing that these groups are under relentless pressure from Nigeria’s armed forces and security agencies.
He commended the courage and resilience of Nigeria’s troops, who successfully repelled coordinated attacks on military positions, and promised that all criminal elements would be relentlessly pursued and neutralized.
President Tinubu revealed that additional equipment and operational support for security agencies, approved during a weekend security meeting, are already being deployed to strengthen their capabilities. He also directed top security officials to move to Maiduguri to oversee the response, while instructing emergency agencies to provide proper care for the injured.
“There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them. Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” Tinubu affirmed.
