Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has expressed gratitude and credited God for the success of the premiere of her first directorial debut, held on Sunday at the Alliance Française, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The 48-year-old actress described the project as a deliberate effort to tell stories centered on women. She had earlier said the film grew out of her desire to create “emotionally grounded stories that highlight the strength, sacrifice, and resilience of women.”
The film features performances by Olumide Oworu, Noray Nehita, Ifeanyi Kalu, Lilian Afegbai, and Nosa Rex.
Among those present at the premiere was former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The guest list also included Rita Dominic, Toke Makinwa, and Nosa Rex, among others.
The event was held under an “Old Money” dress theme, which guided the style of attendees throughout the evening.
During the red carpet proceedings, Jalade-Ekeinde introduced her first daughter, Princess Ekeinde, to Obasanjo. Video clips from the event show the actress presenting her daughter to the former president before posing for photographs alongside her husband and daughter.
The premiere also served as a commemoration of Jalade-Ekeinde’s 30-year career in film. Over three decades, she has remained one of Nollywood’s most recognisable figures. With A Mother’s Love, she adds directing to her professional record.
Full plot details were not disclosed at the premiere.
A Mother’s Love opens in cinemas across Nigeria on March 6, 2026.
