REVEALED: Manchester United Face Multi-Million Pound Payout After Amorim Exit

Manchester United are staring at another costly managerial change after parting ways with Ruben Amorim, with the total financial impact running into tens of millions of pounds.

Figures from a recent UEFA report show that United agreed a £10 million compensation package to bring Amorim in from Sporting CP in November 2024.

Following his dismissal, the club could pay as much as £15.9 million to settle the coach’s and five members of his backroom staff’s contracts, depending on future employment clauses.

The News Chronicle gathered that United still had £6.3 million outstanding to Sporting at the time of the decision, adding to the mounting cost of managerial turnover at Old Trafford.

The club previously spent £14.5 million to sever ties with Erik ten Hag and former football director Dan Ashworth, pushing the combined bill for leadership changes within 15 months beyond £30 million.

The financial strain comes despite United recording the highest net transfer spend in world football over the past five years. While revenues across European football are rising, the club’s on-pitch returns have lagged behind heavy investment.

With Michael Carrick currently in interim charge, another major appointment and further spending are expected as United attempts to steady the ship.
