Bulabari Sweeps Khana II Bye-Election

—

The political drumbeat in Rivers reached a crescendo on Saturday as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Henrietta Bulabari, stormed to victory in the Khana II State House of Assembly Constituency bye-election, leaving her rivals trailing in her wake.

When the final tally was read, Bulabari stood tall with 7,647 votes — a commanding figure that sealed her triumph at the polls.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Angela Briggs, formally declared her winner, stating that she emerged victorious ‘’having satisfied the requirements of the law.’’

The breakdown of results painted a clear picture of the contest: AA garnered 46 votes, APC clinched 7,647, NNPP secured 37, YPP recorded 23, while ZLP polled 47.

Out of 71,914 registered voters in the constituency, only 7,834 were accredited to vote — a turnout that barely scratched the surface. Of the ballots cast, 7,800 were deemed valid, while 34 were rejected.

Party agents kept a watchful eye throughout the collation process, standing witness as the numbers rolled in and the verdict of the ballot box was pronounced.

Reacting to her victory, Bulabari said she was ‘’extremely’’ delighted with the outcome, describing the exercise as free, fair, smooth, peaceful, and successful.

With gratitude in her voice and confidence in her stride, she pledged to repay the people’s trust through impactful constituency projects that would uplift lives and bring tangible development to Khana II.
