Not Every Nigerian is a Fool Like Them- NNPP Chieftain Warns Senate Over E-Transmission Debate

A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has criticised the Nigerian Senate’s move to retain manual transmission of election results as an alternative to electronic transmission, describing the decision as shortsighted and regressive.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Thursday, monitored by The News Chronicle, the party stalwart warned lawmakers against actions capable of eroding public confidence in the electoral process.

“They should not provoke Nigerians. Not every Nigerian is a fool like them,” he said.

The former National Secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) argued that Nigeria had already made significant progress in electoral reforms, citing the introduction of the card reader in the 2015 general elections as a turning point that enhanced credibility.

He insisted that electronic transmission of results must be strengthened rather than diluted, stressing that embracing technology remains critical to ensuring transparency, accountability, and trust in the country’s elections.
