FG Inspects Makurdi–Otukpo–9th Mile Road Project, Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Infrastructure

The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Works, has conducted a comprehensive inspection of Section III (Ogbokolo–Otukpa) of the ongoing Makurdi–Otukpo–9th Mile Road Project, reaffirming its commitment to delivering durable and high quality road infrastructure across the country.

The inspection, carried out on February 5, 2026, focused on evaluating the level of work completed, construction quality, and compliance with approved engineering specifications. The exercise also identified areas requiring corrective measures to ensure the project meets required safety and performance standards.

The Makurdi–Otukpo–9th Mile Road Project, a key transport corridor linking Benue State to Enugu and other parts of the South East, is being executed by the Chinese Harbor Engineering Company, with RockBridge serving as the sub contractor. The project is expected to enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, and improve the movement of people and goods along the route.

Officials from the Ministry of Works stated that the inspection forms part of ongoing supervision and quality assurance measures aimed at ensuring contractors adhere strictly to approved project designs and timelines. They emphasized that the Federal Government remains committed to delivering road infrastructure that guarantees safety, durability, and long term value for Nigerians.

The government also reiterated its resolve to strengthen monitoring mechanisms on all federal road projects nationwide, noting that improved road infrastructure remains central to economic growth, regional integration, and national development.
