Google cofounder Sergey Brin has climbed to become the world’s third richest individual following a fresh rally in Alphabet shares that pushed the tech giant’s valuation to the $4 trillion mark.
The surge sees Brin move ahead of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Oracle chairman Larry Ellison in the global wealth rankings.
Alphabet’s stock touched a new record this week, extending a strong run that has seen the shares gain more than 60 percent over the past year.
The company now joins Nvidia, Microsoft and Apple as one of the few firms to ever reach a $4 trillion valuation, reinforcing its growing influence in global technology markets.
Forbes estimates Brin’s net worth at about $255 billion, placing him behind only Elon Musk and fellow Google cofounder Larry Page. Bezos now ranks fourth, closely followed by Ellison, as recent declines in Amazon and Oracle shares contributed to the reshuffle.
