Suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have carried out coordinated attacks on Ja Jibiri and Ladu villages in Yobe State, leaving a village head injured, a driver abducted, and a health facility looted.
Sources told security analyst that the attacks occurred at about 12:20 a.m. on Saturday December 27, 2025.
During the raid on Ja Jibiri village, the village head, Lawan Hassan, aged 45, was shot on the left shoulder by the attackers. He was later rushed to Geidam General Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
The assailants reportedly moved on to nearby Ladu village, where they abducted a 40-year-old driver, Madu Kura, who was driving a Toyota Hilux vehicle.
The gunmen also broke into the Primary Health Care Medical Centre in the village, carting away medical consumables and other valuables.
In addition, the insurgents were said to have stolen a Golf motor car before fleeing the area.
Security personnel in the region have been placed on high alert, while surveillance and tracking operations are ongoing to apprehend the attackers and rescue the abducted victim.
